What are the benefits of LED plant grow lights?

Working principle and application of plant lamp

Plants need red and blue light instead of green light for photosynthesis. Therefore, the light environment is one of the important physical environment factors for plant growth and development. The light source of plant mainly determines the composition and proportion of light quality according to the photosynthetic curve of plant photosynthesis and the percentage of light absorbed by photosynthetic pigment, so as to provide a good light environment for plants. At present, the mainstream plant lamps are led type and fluorescent type.
After application test, the wavelength of plant lamp is very suitable for plant growth, flowering and fruiting. General indoor plants and flowers, will grow worse and worse with time, the main reason is the lack of light irradiation, through the LED light suitable for the spectrum of plants, not only can promote its growth, but also can extend the flowering period, improve the quality of flowers. So it can be summarized into three points
1) As a supplementary light, in the case of insufficient external light, it can provide supplementary light for plants and keep sufficient light for plant growth.
2) Prolong the illumination time. For medium and long day plants, natural light can not provide enough illumination time, and plant lamp can extend the lighting time to achieve the best photoperiod.
3) Use a greenhouse or plant laboratory. Replace natural light and promote plant growth.

Performance comparison
We use professional equipment to measure the luminous flux and luminous efficiency of fluorescent plant lamp (as shown in Figure 1) and led plant lamp (Figure 2) as well as the occupancy rate of red, green and blue light. The specific comparison results are as follows.
2.1 shape comparison
By comparing the fluorescent lamp type plant lamp (as shown in Figure 1) and the LED type plant lamp (as shown in Figure 2), we can see that the shape of the fluorescent lamp type plant lamp is circular. Since only the downward emitting light can effectively irradiate the plant, its effective luminous efficiency and luminous flux are only about 50%.
2.2 comparison of luminous flux and light efficiency
The luminous efficiency and luminous flux of the fluorescent plant lamp are slightly higher than that of the LED plant lamp, but only the downward emitting light can effectively irradiate the plant, so the real luminous efficiency and luminous flux of the fluorescent plant lamp are only about 50% of its own.
By comparing the luminous efficiency and luminous flux of fluorescent lamp and led plant lamp, table 1 is obtained. Obviously, the effect of LED plant lamp is better.
